Roving Volunteers in Christ's Service

A retirement program like no other

Serving Christian ministries since 1977

Why We Serve
First and foremost, we serve because we love our Lord Jesus Christ, and have a desire to serve Him. Many retirees also love to travel, and RVICS gives us the opportunity to travel with purpose, building up the body of Christ as we do.

...if anyone serves, it should be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything.

1 Peter 4:11b

Who We Serve
We serve non-profit Christian camps, conference centers, churches, schools, and children’s homes. We assist them in their mission of building our Lord’s kingdom on earth.

And the King will answer them, ‘I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.'

Matthew 25:40

What We Do
RVICS missionary teams provide the labor to meet the needs of the hosts we serve. Work tasks have included:
  • general cleaning
  • painting
  • maintenance and repair
  • new construction and framing
  • electrical and plumbing
  • office work
  • sewing
  • landscaping and gardening
  • auto and small engine repair
  • assisting with food service and laundry

RVICS missionaries have a variety of skills and come from many vocational backgrounds. Don’t feel like you have a relevant skill to share? Willing helpers are always welcome (and needed!). You might be surprised at what you’ll learn along the way.
God always seems to put together teams with the necessary skills for a given host’s needs. What fun it is to see God’s hand at work!

Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men.

Colossians 3:23

When We Serve
RVICS projects occur from January through June and September through November, with summer projects scheduled for those who can or want to serve during that time. We do take a break in December, allowing our missionaries the opportunity to spend Christmas time with their families.

Projects are typically 3 weeks in length, and our missionaries are encouraged to participate in as many projects as they are able.

Where We Serve
RVICS missionaries serve in virtually every state in the continental US, and even a few Canadian provinces! Projects follow the seasons, occurring in the southern US during the winter months, moving north as weather warms.
